The quick story
St. Peter was a fisherman whom Jesus called to follow Him. Peter believed that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God.
After receiving the Holy Spirit, Peter travelled to tell people about Jesus. He helped many believe and wrote two letters to encourage Christians. Peter stayed faithful to Christ through difficulties. The Coptic Church remembers him as an apostle and a martyr.

PART 1
From fishing to following Christ
Peter came from Bethsaida and worked as a fisherman. Jesus called him to follow Him. Peter came to confess that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God. His new work would be sharing that faith with others.
PART 2
A frightened moment and a sorry heart
When Jesus was arrested, Peter became afraid. Three times he denied knowing Him. Then he recognised what he had done and wept in repentance.
The Diocese's explanation helps us see both his weakness and his turning back. Repentance means bringing our wrong choices to God instead of pretending they did not happen.
PART 3
Speaking boldly at Pentecost
At Pentecost, the Holy Spirit came upon the apostles. Peter spoke to the crowd, and about three thousand people believed. The frightened disciple was now helping others come to Christ.
The Book of Acts also tells of his preaching, healing ministry and imprisonment as the early Church grew.
PART 4
Faithful to the end
Peter wrote letters to strengthen believers. In Rome, he suffered martyrdom under Nero. The Church remembers his faith, his repentance and his service. His life reminds us that a failure need not be the end of our story with God.
